Summer Concerts and The Dome: What's Still Ahead in Virginia Beach
Summer is in full swing, and the best of the Virginia Beach music season is still to come. Free Oceanfront concerts, festival weekends, and a stacked lineup at The Dome run from now straight through Labor Day and beyond. Here is everything left on the calendar, and where to stay so you can walk to the show and walk home after.
Free Live Music: The Oceanfront Concert Series
The Oceanfront Concert Series keeps going most Wednesday nights through mid-August at the 17th and 24th Street parks on the Boardwalk. It is free, family friendly, and the lineup still ahead includes names like The Wailers, The War and Treaty, Moon Taxi, MC Lyte, Umphrey's McGee, and All-4-One. Bring a blanket or a beach chair, leave the alcohol at your rental, and enjoy live music with the ocean behind the stage.

Every Upcoming Show at The Dome
The reborn Dome by Rutter Mills in the heart of Atlantic Park has quickly become the most exciting concert venue in the city, and our Atlantic Park Lofts sit just a two-minute walk away. Here is every show on the calendar through mid-September:
The Dome: Shows Through Mid-September
Dates and acts can shift as new shows are added, so check the venue's schedule for the latest before you book tickets.
Prefer a Big-Name Amphitheater Show?
For a bigger outdoor concert, the Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater still has Meghan Trainor (June 26), NE-YO and AKON (July 18), Rod Stewart (Aug 1), and Jason Aldean (Sep 10) on the calendar. For something more intimate and indoors, the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts in Town Center has a steady summer lineup too. Both are an easy drive from any of our properties.
Pro Tip: The Dome and the Oceanfront stages share the same neighborhood, so parking gets tight on big show nights. Staying within walking distance is the easiest fix. From our Atlantic Park Lofts, The Dome is a two-minute walk and the boardwalk stages are just up the street, so you never have to think about a parking spot.
Where to Stay for the Music
The whole point of a concert trip is being able to stroll to the show and stroll home after. A Transcendent Stays property in the heart of it all makes that easy:
The Atlantic Park Lofts are the obvious pick for a Dome show, sitting a two-minute walk from the venue in the middle of the ViBe District. Modern, walkable, and steps from the surf park, restaurants, and the boardwalk stages.
The Inn at Old Beach offers boutique suites in the heart of the Oceanfront, perfect if you want to split your days between the beach, the free park concerts, and the boardwalk, with complimentary weekend breakfast.
Beachwalk #1 is a right-sized pick for a concert getaway. Just an 8-minute walk to the beach and within easy reach of the oceanfront stages, it gives a couple or small group a comfortable, walkable home base without more space than you need.
Summer weekends book up fast in Virginia Beach, and the nights with a big Dome show or a festival book up fastest of all. If there is a show you have your eye on, lock in your dates now.
